Being the ice cream junkie that I am, I have always wanted to make my own ice cream. That being said, I don't have an ice cream maker (yet). In the mean time, I was determined to find a way to make it work without having a machine. I knew it would be a lot of effort but just made the excuse that it would taste better if I worked extra hard for it...
That wasn't necessarily the case...

Boiling the cream and sugar |

Whisk egg yolks |

Puree and strained cantaloupe juice |

Tempered egg yolks and cream mixture |

Added cantaloupe puree to mixture |

Poured in shallow baking pan to freeze for 30min, transfer
to bowl and mix, freeze, repeat until desired consistency is reached. |

The finished product. I stopped mixing it after about 6 hours to go to bed, but this obviously needed more mixing. However it TASTES great!! |
